Through the slightly open door, Gould saw the back of a man. Across the man's lap, a Russian-type submachine gun rested heavily. Gould opened the door wider. Then he saw the girl, tied to a large double bed. Her clothes had been torn from her body…. Gould opened the door fully and stepped quickly across the room raising his right arm circling the man's neck.... The man slumped soundlessly to the floor. Gould immediately set to work undoing the straps that held Lin Mai. "They kill you, Mr. Gould," she whispered. "They do not know we are here," Gould assured her. "Graybar is gone." "Gone? He must be stopped, Mr. Gould. He is going to destroy Hong Kong!"
