Have you ever shaved off a mustache? Your own, that is? I am addressingmyself to the gentlemen. I know full well that many of the ladies have problems of the mustache too -- their own, that is. But theirs is another problem. Theirs is not a punctilious nurturing, theirs not a patient ministering, theirs not a constant caring (like a suburban householder with unruly hedges); theirs, rather, an involuntary sprouting to be doused, dyed, powdered and puffed at, and, off-times, electrically exterminated. So, for the nonce (and a very short nonce it shall be), I address myself exclusively to the gentlemen.

1955.
